I work as the Business Developer at the Cooke e-Learning Foundation which is a UK Registered Charity.
I was given the opportunity to create a website which was solely aimed at the local community and chose to target the website at Belgrave, LE4. As I have been brought up in Belgrave and the Cooke e-Learning is based in Belgrave so it made sense to create a site that would give the people of Belgrave a voice that could not be ignored.
I work on the site in and out of working hours and always keen to find the next hot topic which affects real people on a daily basis.

I have been in the UK for 3 years, after living in Germany for 10 years. I am a mother of two.
Before commencing my studies and practical training in community studies, my line of work was in public relations & interior designing, which I persused in Sri Lanka, The Maldives Islands & in Germany.
But since I’ve joined The Cooke e-Learning Foundation in Leicester as a volunteer, I have gained valuable experience learning about, working with and for the community.
As a friendly and people orientated person; I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to create this community website. I am always interested and concerned about the people around me; on daily basis. Motherly instincts I guess….
So for me; it’s not just the fascinating process of researching and reporting community top news; Now through the website, I know that I have an aptitude of applying it.
