LOCAL ELECTIONS 2011: Leicester city result – Labour sweeps the board

 Labour supporters Jason Wood and Raksha Pandya ecstatic at the results.

The Labour Party has swept the board in Leicester in a stunning local election victory.

The party picked up 52 of 54 seats on the authority, reducing the Conservative and Lib Dem opposition groups to just one councillor each.

In an afternoon of drama at Leicester Tiger’s Welford Road ground, where the count was held, 12 opposition seats were taken by Labour.  Leicester East MP Keith Vaz said: “This is the biggest Labour win of a generation in Leicester. It is an historic day for all of us.”

Red Cross Want Performers For Refugee Week

                          

British Red Cross is holding an event in the city centre and are looking to try to represent a variety of different cultures within our city.  We are looking for performers of any kind to take part in the event, which will take place on Saturday 18th June 2011 at the Town Hall Square in Leicester city Centre.

Looking for dancers, drummers, singers, musicians of any kind…. artists…poets…storytellers….jugglers….street entertainers…any suggestions welcome….

Its a real opportunity to show Leicester a piece of your culture! Come along and help us celebrate the “One World” we live in.

June25th is a Rap, Hip-Hop & RnB music producer from Leicester. He has worked with many artists including Swiss and MC Harvey (SoSolidCrew).  He has had music featured on various projects such as the Playstation 3 game ‘Haze’.

This is a great opportunity to learn from a well experienced producer who is currently working on his 2nd studio album!
